Getting familiar with the unifi controller captive portal

Lets get to know the captive portal process on your AWS Controller. This is a one of two part editing system. This first portion is done through the controller itself, and should be rarely be edited after this first time.

1. Click the settings button in the lower left hand corner.

2. Navigate to the guest control settings tab and enable the Guest Portal by checking the box in the first row. You can follow the picture above and mirror the settings, or create something specific to your network. If you join the FreeLynk Web Server Program these settings will be replaced with the FreeLynk program's settings.

3. Experiment with the settings, you'll instantly see your chnages in the window on the right. Switch between desktop and mobile preview above the window to make sure everything looks correct from all angles.

4. For our purposes, enable payment based authorization under the payments line. We're not actually going to be taking payments through our portal, so under payment packages delete the defaults and click Add another package.

5. The name line will be what the text on the connection button shows, name it whatever you like, but preferably something the user will understand enough to click. Set the trial lockout to 0 and leave the overwriting limit function unchecked. Our FreeLynk program sets the Hours option to 3(the time in which the user will need to see the captive portal and click the connect button again)... then click Submit when finished.

6. Set the payment gateway to Stripe, and the API key to 1234567890. The API key we are using is a fake key that won't mean anything, but it wont let you proceed when the field is left blank. At this point you can apply changes to set our settings into the access points.

7. Scroll back up to inspect what our captive portal looks like in the preview box. We will be changing the captive portal further (like the "try it out for free" part) in the next CP tutorial. For now, try to connect a device to your newly programed captive portal enabled access point. You should see your deigned page on your device when connecting to your FreeLynk WiFi! When we create further changes to the captive portal, like creating ads, we can see them in this portal window also.

8. So far so good!Congrats on getting this far!
